FERTILITY NURSE / MIDWIFE – JOB SPECIFICATION

This Private Hospital is a specialist healthcare provider in the areas of Fertility, Assisted Conception, and Gynaecology overlapping with fertility practice.
We are looking for a dynamic and innovative registered nurse or midwife to join our multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will be required to play an active part in the day to day running of the clinic and to adhere to all the clinic’s set processes and SOPs.
All applicants must have a current RGN or RM qualification and up to date NMC registration.
All applicants must have an up-to-date CPD portfolio.
Previous experience in Fertility & Assisted Reproductive practice is an advantage but candidates without previous experience will be considered based on their attitude and passion for fertility practice and willingness to learn. Inexperienced candidates if successful will receive in-house training and supported to gain the required skills.
Fertility Nurse/Midwife Duties:
  • To prepare and assist with the smooth running of the clinic ensuring a high standards of patient care.
  • To carry out clinical duties in a professional and compassionate manner in accordance with clinic policies and protocols, and in conformity with the appropriate regulatory bodies including the HFEA and CQC.
  • To carry out scheduling of patient treatment cycles, patient information sessions, drug administration and assist senior practitioners during egg collections, embryo transfer and other assisted conception procedures.
  • Supporting patients through their fertility treatment in a gentle and patient manner maintaining continuity of care and support.
  • To ensure compliance with the HFEA, CQC and other regulatory bodies Code of Practice and Quality standards.
  • Data entry and Record keeping in line with HFEA standards and best practice
  • Contribute to writing of SOPs
  • To demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and skills.
  • To conduct audit projects as required.
  • To enter patient information and treatment details as required by the clinic and the HFEA.
  • To liaise as necessary with other members of the team.
  • To handle all enquiries from potential clients, clients and the public, in a professional way.
Fertility Nurse/Midwife Skills:
  • Excellent nursing/fertility nursing skills
  • Training & experience in surgical pathways especially as applicable to IVF practice
  • Pre- and post-operative care of patients undergoing IVF and Gynae procedures
  • Excellent computer skills
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to learn
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ultrasound scanning including transvaginal scanning
  • Nurse Consultation
  • Phlebotomy / Filling-in Laboratory request forms correctly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good team player
  • Commitment to excellent customer care
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy at all times, particularly when raising issues with patients
  • Ability to represent yourself and the clinic in a professional manner at all times

  • Ability to multi-task by participating when requires in all aspects of patient care.
Organisation Chart:
  • Accountable to the Medical Director
  • Work in close collaboration/liaison with the senior fertility nurse & admin staff
  • Assist the embryologist and all key staff to ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
Hours:   Part-time or full depending on requirement of the right candidate. Working some weekends is required.
This position is subject to DBS checks at enhanced level
