Are you looking for a fulfilling role in a friendly, independent veterinary practice where you’re given clinical freedom, proper support, and room to grow? We’re seeking a passionate and capable Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated team in Dunfermline. Whether you're a new graduate or an experienced vet, if you love surgery, enjoy working in a well-equipped environment, and value a great team culture — this could be the perfect fit.

About Us

We are a proudly independent small animal practice that’s been caring for the pets of Fife for over 20 years. Our team is known for its excellent tenure — many of our colleagues have been with us for years, which speaks volumes about our supportive working environment and positive culture. We believe in giving our vets autonomy to make clinical decisions, without micromanagement, while still providing guidance when needed.

We’re also a training practice, with time and space carved out to help mentor and teach new graduates or students — something we’re genuinely passionate about.

Your Day-to-Day

The working day is thoughtfully structured with consulting blocks in the morning and afternoon, and time allocated for operations and diagnostics in between. You’ll need to be comfortable driving occasionally between our main practice and a nearby branch 8 miles away — we can provide a company van or reimburse mileage if you use your own vehicle.

You’ll be involved in a wide range of cases and procedures, including:
  • Routine operations such as neutering, dentals, and mass removals
  • Soft tissue surgeries including cystotomies, enterotomies, splenectomies and caesarean sections
  • Consulting on a broad caseload of dogs, cats, and small furries
  • Working up cases fully with access to a wide range of in-house diagnostics
  • Building rapport with clients and delivering continuity of care
  • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues if you’re experienced (or being supported if you’re a recent graduate)
What We Offer

We believe in rewarding our team fairly and offering benefits that support both professional development and wellbeing:
  • Competitive salary up to £60,000, depending on experience
  • 40-hour working week across 4 or 5 days, with protected lunch breaks (1–2pm)
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays (short shift: 9am–2pm)
  • No out-of-hours or on-call, giving you a true work-life balance
  • Company van available for inter-branch travel or mileage reimbursed if you use your own vehicle
  • Generous holiday allowance plus bank holidays
  • CPD actively encouraged – we give you the freedom and funding to pursue your interests
  • Pension scheme, life cover, and flu vaccinations
  • Staff discounts on treatments for your own pets
  • A sociable and supportive team that genuinely enjoys working together — we regularly organise fun events outside of work
Our Facilities

We’re fully equipped to allow our vets to provide high-standard care, including:
  • In-house IDEXX lab
  • Digital X-ray and dental X-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Laser therapy
  • And more — if you have a special interest, we’re always open to expanding our services
Who We're Looking For

We’re open-minded — if you’re an enthusiastic new graduate or a confident vet looking to take the next step, we want to hear from you. The ideal candidate will:
  • Be MRCVS-registered
  • Be competent (or keen to become competent) in routine surgery and soft tissue procedures
  • Have great communication skills and a genuine care for clients and patients
  • Be happy working as part of a close-knit team
  • Be confident driving between branches when required
If this sounds like the kind of role and practice you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
