Registered Children's Home Manager Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the home’s staffing rotas, training, incident reporting, and ensure robust safeguarding and whistleblowing processes are embedded.
- Work in partnership with social workers, education providers, health professionals, and families to support positive outcomes for each child.
- Maintain and monitor budgets effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently while maintaining a high standard of care and homely environment.
- Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home is always inspection-ready and striving towards a rating of ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’.
- Provide effective leadership and management of the home, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted standards, legislation, and safeguarding procedures.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised placement and care plans in collaboration with the child, local authority, families, and professionals.
- Ensure the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of children is prioritised and promoted through structured routines, risk management, and care strategies.
- Lead and supervise a team of residential staff, providing performance management, reflective supervision, and promoting continuous professional development.
- Promote a culture of openness, safety, participation, and high aspiration for children, using therapeutic and relational approaches (e.g. PACE).
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards it).
- At least 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a children’s residential setting.
- Thorough understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and relevant safeguarding frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, support, and inspire a team working with children who may display challenging behaviour and have experienced trauma.
- Strong communication, report-writing, and multi-agency partnership skills.
- Proven experience in developing and reviewing individualised care and behaviour support plans.
- Passionate about improving outcomes and life chances for children and young people in care
