Veterinary Nurse(RiVN)
🐾 Veterinary Nurse – Join Our Friendly, Independent Team 🐾 - Cambridge - Up to £32,000

Location: Cambridge
Salary: Up to £32,000 (commensurate with experience)
Hours: Full-time (40 hours) or part-time considered | 1 in 3 weekends | On-call rota included

Are you a caring, capable Veterinary Nurse who values genuine teamwork, a supportive environment, and client-focused care? We’re looking for someone to join our small, non-corporate practice where honesty, respect, and compassion drive everything we do.
We’re proud of the close-knit team we’ve built – many of us have been here for years, and we all pitch in to support each other. If you’re someone who wants to feel part of a practice where your work is appreciated and where client and patient care really comes first, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on, varied role where your skills will be put to good use every day. From patient care and anaesthetics to organising the day’s workload and connecting with pet owners, you’ll be a vital part of how we care for both animals and their people.
You’ll be joining a rota that includes 1 in 3 weekends and 2 weekday evenings on call. While nurse call-outs are rare, our vet needs to know support is there if needed. On-call is only for our own clients, and you’ll never be alone – our long-standing permanent nurse is always happy to chat and explain how the system works in practice. When on call, you’ll need to be no more than 30 minutes from the practice.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Nursing duties and inpatient care
  • Supporting the vet with procedures and anaesthetics
  • Liaising closely with clients – from admissions and discharges to updates
  • Keeping the practice clean, organised, and well-stocked
  • Reception support: welcoming clients, answering phones, taking payments
  • Managing lab samples, results, drug orders, and vaccination reminders
  • Collaborating with the whole team to deliver top-notch care
What We're Looking For:
  • A qualified, registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Someone calm, confident, and caring – especially in emergencies
  • A clear communicator who values relationships with clients
  • A reliable team player who lives within 30 minutes of the practice (when on call)
  • Someone who appreciates honesty over hype – we won’t promise the earth, but we can promise a great place to work with a team who has your back
Working Hours:
  • 40 hours per week (or part-time, if preferred)
  • Shifts start at either 08:30 or 12:00
  • 1 in 3 weekends + 2 weekday evenings on call
What We Offer:
  • Salary up to £32,000 depending on experience
  • A stable, supportive team where you're never just a number
  • A genuine work ethos centred on quality care and mutual respect
  • Non-corporate, independent ownership – with no box-ticking targets
If you’re looking for a role where your work matters and your team supports you – we’d love to hear from you.
